  • Huge, lush, tropical and very full bodied. This really pushes the limits of what can be done with ripe, oaked, sauv blanc. Given the extreme style, I think this would be pretty polarizing, but I found it to be flat out delicious. I bought a few of these as library released and I'm upset that I didn't take everything they had.

  • A stunning bottle of wine. I was a little worried that this would be fading but it is really thriving with age. This has a viscous texture coupled with a creamy tropical fruit profile, which blind would read much more as a Rhone blend than sauvignon blanc. Big everywhere, but totally integrated. The style is very over the top, to the point that you couldn't really call it varietally correct, but it is flat out delicious. I thought it was a ringer for a Sine Qua Non white, making it a crazy deal at $35 or so. Fans of Sancerre or more traditional styles should steer clear or adjust their expectations. Hopefully they can get back to this style with the 2012's after two cooler years. A personal benchmark for what can be done with a full throttle CA sauv blanc.

  • A nice golden, medium to full bodied white. Closed on the nose with slight hints of spice and perhaps some stone fruit. Ripe creamy fruit on the palate showing refreshing flavors of tangy lime and sweet pear. Finishes with good acidity and a touch of minerality. Slightly disappointing given its $35 price!
