  • Used for a tasting. Went well with Killer Shrimp Toast in a Garlic Sauce.

  • A medium weight Sauvignon Blanc with a mix of citrus and light tropical notes. Lively palate is nicely balanced with bright acids. Very good stuff.

  • This continues to be such a unique and fresh example of what SB is capable of in California and specifically Santa Barbera’s Happy Canyon!

Sight: medium straw color with a hint of light gold

Nose: This wine is like breathing fresh mountain air with how pure and refreshing it is on the nose. The wine opens with freshly sliced lemon flesh, perfectly ripe guava, and gooseberry. With another Swirl the distinct minerality lifts the wine and brings you to a since of place and a light waft of oak/cinnamon reminds you of the unique and complex nature of this SB.

Palate: The taste is just as refreshing as the nose... This wine has some verve it’s very refreshing and easy to drink with a lovely soft and round texture from 7 months of lees ageing in barrel (73 % in used oak for 7 months, 27% in stainless steel). Good concentration, medium body, medium finish. Lots of yellow and white citrus with a lovely tropical nature brings some lift from the softened oak mid-palate (some cinnamon here?) with a finish filled with minerals that you have to just adore!

Overall: I’ve been to Dragonette it’s quaint the people are very knowledgeable, kind and I remember my visit well. I’m picky about Cali SB and there are only two other wines that I think beat this and that’s Lail’s Blueprint (made by Phillip Melka) & luminescence by quintessa (Rebekah Wineburg, Charles Thomas, and many other top winemakers) they are also $50 so it’s and unfair comparison but that should say a lot about how well this wines performs in my opinion it’s top 3 easy for me competing with the best at $35!

  • Still going strong. See my previous note. Stronger grapefruit in this one. Still creamy, but also bright and vivacious. Great pairing with salmon and kale salad.
