Very ripe nose, tending away from the usual dark berries and plum of blaufränkisch towards ripe strawberry and also other red berries. A hint of brett and thus forest floor, but for me this added to the complexity without being too intrusive. Reminded me a bit of a Pinot noir. On the palate again more red than black berries and a delicacy of a good Pinot. Excellent long finish. A fully mature wine. Remarkable blaufränkisch.

Somehow oxidative on the nose, already worn out brambleberry and juniper. On the palate hot, furry and mostly over the hill. Bad Bottle?

Austria Uncorked (SLS Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA): Nose of rocky soil and green peppers. Sharp at the finish but there is lean concentrated fruit here balanced by acids. This needs time.
