David Clark @ Sun Street Hotel: Mid garnet. Gorgeous. The plush, friendly side of Morey. Lots here. Resolved but lots in the tank. Serious vintage. This has come on leaps and bounds since last tasting with David almost a decade ago. ****

A nice wine to accompany a varied restaurant meal, but not worth the price ( as opposed to a Morey from a firmer producer). Pleasant, smooth, but lacking in grip, and even accounting for its youth and possible retreat for a couple of years, not showing sufficient terror. The wine took a bit of time to unfold, and it did gain corps and a darker deep cherry center.

Truly outstanding. On opening - somewhat muted, notes of marzipan. As it opened up over the course of a couple of hours - punching above its villages weight - by no means thin, refined elegant, possessing some glass-emptying deliciousness which is worrying when your partner isn't drinking red tonight...

Domaine David Clark Dinner with David Clark (Sun Street Hotel, Liverpool Street, London): Smoky redcurrant with just a hint of vanilla fudge on the nose. Palate just beautiful, more red fruits, perfect acidity and so more-ish. My joint wine of the dinner.

Wow! Really singing now. Needs some air - an hour, maybe two. Very smooth, very together and great length. Easily got another 5 years ahead of it.
