deze wijn is rijk en vol, zonder de overdadige rijpheid en alcohol die 2003 al te vaak typeert. een vacqueyras die aan een gigondas doet denken, bijzonder geslaagd in een moeilijk jaar B+/A

Pretty nice little Rhone blend. Initial impressions are of a CdR, which is in fact what Vacqueyras was until 1990. Very light in body with a unique character; comperable to a pinot in body except that it definitely shows the varietal characterstics of a rustic rhone grape (Mourvedre?), with more structure and tannin. Was good with Freebirds burritos and would be an acceptable witha range of foods, but I would imagine it being particularly excellent with some dish I can't quite put a finger on. At $14-15, worth trying once, and would probably improve with age, but I doubt I'll bother.

light intensity, fresh fruit - youthful - spice - perfume of lavendar and hillside spices - cherry notes - earth, blackberry, with medium acid/tannin and medium finish. Orsay.

Somewhat similar tasting notes as the last time, except that the floral nose was gone from this bottle, as was the touch of sweetness. Without those elements, what is left is a serviceable wine with a clipped finish, perfectly fine with food, but not the surprise the first bottle was.

Same tasting notes as last time. It's too bad the second and third bottles couldn't have been more like the first.
