Initially vegetal smell with sweet brambles struggling through. Mouth filling body, deeply savoury taste, dry. The smell softened over a good meal to show rich sweet blackberry and smokey earth flavours, quite complex. Drying finish of medium length. Overall quite a rich and satisfying burgundy which would easily last another 5 years.

Confused. Don't have much history with Forey but this is either closing down or over-extraceted. I lean towards closing down because the nose is not what I had hoped for. Palate is tannic and rich. Fruit there for sure but not nearly to the level of a lot of modern Burgundy producers (Groffier and Daniel Rion come to mind) and the structure and noticeable wood are there too. This may be back to work in 5 years or I may just not like Regis Forey's wines. Hard to tell this minute. Came from 375

2009 Red Burgundies (under $60) (Chris's House): Purple/ruby in color. The nose has dark cherries and not much else. Nice though. Cherries with some complexity on the palate. This was about the only wine showing any depth tonight. Very solid wine. This got three first place votes from the group (including mine), but also three last place votes.

Ready to drink; lots of tannin but good fruit coming through. I would call this a masculine burgundy.

Mörkare frukt än jag hade väntat mig. Bra tanninstruktur, klar fin syra och hyfsat lång eftersmak.
