  • Decanted. Tight at first, the wine opened in about 30 minutes and continued to develop over the next 2 hours, after which time the bottle was empty.

On the nose black cherries, cassis, plum, vanilla, with mint tucked in at the back.

An unusual pallet of black fruit, cigar box cedar, bakers choc, and minerals.

A moderate finish of tobacco, chocolate, earth, and toast.

This is a very appealing blend, with well structured tannins, but it could use a bit more acidity. Nice complexity. It will develop well in the bottle over the next 4-5 years.

  • This wine suprised me, first tasted after pop and pour and didn't think much of it. Consumed over a couple hours and definitely developed and got better with aeration. Very good stuff. Earthy bordeaux-like characteristics on the nose. Well structured in the mouth. Could use some more time in the bottle.

  • The 2008 Cuvelier de Los Andes (Clos de los Siete) Colección is a fantastic blend of Malbec 60%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15%, Merlot 15%, Syrah 5%, Petit Verdot 5%. It brings loads of dense black fruits, plum sauce, fig, cocoa powder, baking spices and lavender. This shows wonderful structure and balance with big round tannins providing the smooth texture and long polished finish. (Drink 2012-2018) - February, 2012 (JD)

    90+ POINTS

You might want to jump all over these Cuvelier wines before they show up on everyones radar. If you are not familiar with the Cuvelier Family Estate in Argentina, you might be more familiar with their Bordeaux Estates, Château Léoville Poyferré and Château Le Crock.
