This bottle was in great shape. Rich fruit and spice, with sometimes a bit too much wood. Not particularly complex but solid and enjoyable. Might improve with a few more years or a long decant
A producer that's new to me and looks like the house style is pretty ripe and extracted. Pretty intense ruby/garnet color. Jumps out of the glass with sweet red berries, but also some darker notes like blackberry liquor, balsamic notes (some oak, sweet spices), hardcandy and some earthy notes too and some pepper. It's medium-full bodied with medium+ tannin that is a touch rough around the edges, surprising medium-high acidity and good length. A charming, seductive and pretty sweet Vosne-Romanée. Not the last word about complexity but it sure delivers plenty of pleasure at a reasonable price point. Not sure how this will age... I would drink up rather sooner than later.
