Burgundies with Friends: Nose shows raspberry and strawberry compote, menthol, musk, mushroom. Crisp and savory on the palate, dusty and earthy with bitter strawberry, cherry pits. Tannins still providing good structure, this has a rich texture with darker fruit and notes of oak and coffee yet shows evolved notes of rose potpourri and dried mushrooms. Showing wonderfully now, I threw out a 05 Cote de Nuits 1er Cru, and was surprised to see this was a 2000 Bourgogne level, although not surprised to see the producer. I really liked this bottle and thought it showed really well and still has time to go if kept anything like this bottle was. I think it's from young vines near Gevrey?

Ah Wusman. Shoulda waited. I was convinced it was either going to still be oaky, or dead. Delicious though. Not particularly vivid or refined, nor even particularly Bourgogney, just pretty delish with the duck.

Red and black fruit on nose, but mostly red fruit on palate - strawberry and red cherry. Short and simple flavors, very primary, light on the spice, but flavorful and balanced.

Ruby in color with no evidence of age. Opened right up with bright nose of strawberries and cherries. Somewhat acidic on the palate with some drying tannins, but not astringent. A pleasant quaffer.
