Magnum. ABV 14.5%. Clean nose, very different in style from Pegau. Dense and smooth, big wine but not really showing the alcohol burnt. Good density and length. Not really a 100 pointer but still an excellent wine nevertheless. Ready now.

A delicious hedonistic wine. This is all about yummy pure upfront sexy red fruits with succulent smooth density and freshness. Lush creamy strawberry and red cherry flavors dominate with nice underlying hints of savory spices. Very new world like in the best possible way. Clearly, not for those who prefer higher acid, leaner, chewy wines with tertiary nuanced spices. This is a showy show stopper.

Jailbreak Brewery restaurant opening SQN wine dinner with Justin Bonner (Jailbreak Brewery, Laurel, MD): Initially, subdued nose displaying very ripe warm red fruit. With air, medium expressive nose displaying warm and ripe slightly dry red fruit, raspberry jam, Chambord, dry cherry, fruitcake, tobacco, a hint of leather, sweet spices and earthy mineral. Excellent concentration, packed slightly dry red fruit, warm and round, quite silky and polished, good acidity, pronounced but fine tannins and s long dry cherry and fruitcake driven finish with leather and tobacco at the end. It is softening but needs another five to ten years to reach the youthful peak.

Stunning in every sense of the word. This incredibly concentrated, dense, richly textured wine serves up layer after layer of sweet, ripe, peppery juicy, plush fruits. The wine coats your palate with flavor, the finish sticks with you for close to 50 seconds. Even with all this heft, and alcohol, the wine never tastes or feels hot, or over the top. Everything is in balance and harmony. Only made in magnum, I might not see another bottle, but one can dream.

The Last Dance Magnum Dinner (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL): Magnum. Ultra extreme wine that I find almost cartoonish and tough to appreciate.
