Decanted for about 4 hours and was singing at dinner. Was second best WON behind an 85 Martha’s. Just entering its window, like all the 09s I’ve been opening.

Great Champagne and Burgundy Dinner (Park Ridge Country Club): This got slightly lost following a Dujac 07/08/09/10 CdlR vertical, but was so enjoyable in its own way. Expressing the vintage ripeness perfectly, with plenty of plum black and red cherry, with plenty of spice and meat. Perhaps still a bit of new oak coming through, but this is nicely fresh and long. Entering its peak drinking window.

Overpriset, grov og upresis grand cru. Typisk 2009? Virker noe varm. Mørk og litt rustikk frukt over forsåvidt korrekte druearomaer, roseblader, urter. Bålrøyk over. Nesten litt som en ung nebbiolo på duft. Litt vanskelig å få tak i smaken, for diffus. God vin, men hadde høyere forventninger. Bør nok ligge en del lenger.

Spring Swing Through France-Random Wines Tasted or Imbibed; 4/14/2018-4/25/2018 (Burgundy, Alsace, Paris): Medium ruby, little evolution. Marvelous, explosive nose of mixed red and black fruit and spice joined later by herb and licorice. Sappy feel, wonderfully crisp cranberry acidity. Ready now, altogether delicious, fresh fruit with no 2009 flabbiness. Tannin mostly resolved. Although early reviews mentioned the wood, this seems to have been well incorporated. Outstanding Morey Grand Cru.
