  • Didn’t know much about the producer or the wine. Opened with some non wine friends. Very very reductive at opening. New oak? Never decanted Beaujolais before but this was screaming for it. Decanted after the first pour. About an hour later, beautiful lifted nose of red cherry and hint of liquorice. On the palate linear, structured and complex with an impressive length. Only got better over the 3 hours and a slight sweetness added to the complexity of the final product. Absolutely perfect wine for the evening.

That's life.

  • (CdV)

  • Much better than the last one of these I had - there seems to be some bottle variation going on. This has a nice subtle nose of black cherry, licorice, smoke and violets. The wine is fully mature, restrained, medium bodied, well balanced, while showing a strong acidic backbone. Overall this was in a good place albeit not an outstanding wine.

Three days later this is gone to whole other level. The black cherry fruit component is more prominent in a refined way. The wine is really impressive. I have upgraded this two points and with my remaining bottles will give it a good decant to open it up.

  • Slow oxed for 30 minutes. This bottle confounded me. Shy nose of cranberries, smoked meats. The palate felt a bit hollow in the mid level without enough concentration to see it through. It seemed to get a little better over time with air. This bottle should be ok as it was recently pulled out of in bond storage but maybe it is off. A few more bottle so it will be interesting to try those soon.
