  • Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.

Not quite as good as the bottle last spring, but still quite good. Took a while for the funk to blow off, and it was slightly better on Day 2.

    Time to drink up.

Excellent bottle (the slightly lower score for this bottle than for the previous bottles reflects more the change in my use of the scale than a change in the wine).

A classic (to me) Calif chardonnay. Still round and full -- nos signs of aging, although I see no reason to tempt Fate and wait.

  • Among our very favorite traditional CA style bigger, oakier and rounder chards and given the price point a great QPR wine. This was enjoyed at the inaugural tasting of our new wine club last night. Very good, well structured, balanced, no off tones, a good mouth feel with a lengthy finish and time has definitely softened this. I think at this point this wine will not mature / improve further and I see very little upside in holding on to remaining bottles - I do think this is close to starting to lose fruit and structure and start the inevitable slide. Interesting and now much more muted, floral and red appley nose given that the primary flavors are initially of honeysuckle, white peach and a hint of honey up front with the now quite subdued oak, butter, caramel, pear and apple coming on a little later in the palate. Highly recommend this wine - lovers of serious CA style chard will NOT be disappointed but as noted above I do recommend drinking up any remaining bottles soon - I do think this on the cusp of starting to slide.

  • Solid Calif chardonnay. Nice and rich and round (my preference). Provided an interesting contrast to a white Burgundy -- both good wines from the same grape, but different profiles.

  • Very well oaked, but if you ordered this wine you already knew that. Sweet creamed corn meets lemon curd and toasted banana dominates the palate.
