I know, 97 points for a 14 year chardonnay. But it's the truth. Opened on whim cleaning out the cellar after a move. This bottle got lost in the shuffle over the years. I bought it on release because I always loved the wines Ed made at another winery in the 90's. Stored at between 53 and 55 degrees, mostly at 53. Very deep golden yellow color, nose was a heavy vanilla, ripe peach/green apple, oakey goodness all infused. palate was similar to nose, syrupy in a good way with the vanilla sweet oak, ripe tangy peach that went on and on, lasted 20 seconds. Blew everyone away. Had it with a roasted tomato, thyme and buffalo mozz appetizer. Since everyone loved it, we drank with a second course, Lobster Louie salad recipe from wine spectator, perfect. Damn I wish I had more. I think I will experiment with more aged chardonnay's like this.

Considering age, it showed better than expected. Did not decant. Clear, straw gold color, nose was typical Chard, clean/light. Wine has good structured and balance, mature but not over the hill. Good fruit, decent acid, light butter, no cork, not over oaked. Moderate body and drinking nicely. Consume now or within the next year. ($19)

either i kept this bottle too long or, at some point, the florida heat got to it. it seems a bit oxidized and the color is more caramel than golden straw. the variety of fruit flavors described when the wine was younger are not evident in this bottle. i do taste the apples and vanilla described by others as well as some woodiness. the wine softens somewhat in the glass and does present an intriguing multilayer flavor profile. because of this and because others are continuing to enjoy, i am leaving the drink by date at 2008 although in the future i will enjoy other sbragia family wines in their youth.

Straw gold color. Pineapple and apple on the nose. Juicy apple with oak and vanilla in a well-structured, well integrated wine. Very pleasurable, classic oaky chardonnay.

Big Cali Chard with a ton of fruit and oak. Had decent balance and a medium finish.
