This is still developing. Aromas of green bell pepper that were a bit off-putting. The flavor was unripe cherry, ginger and black pepper. Tannins are well integrated but this wine needs a few more years to develop. Glad I have a couple more to sit on and share later.

Fairly dark color with ruby robe. Oak, dark cherries, forrest floor nose. More dark fruit, though a bit unfocused, on the palate. Noticably less than average acidity leaves the mid-palate a bit flabby. Medium finish has oaky, slightly sweet tannin, with no elevated heat.
Fairly linear, not incredibly focused or balanced. Reminds me of a Morgan or Foley, both of which are about a ten spot cheaper - this is a tough price point in the CA pinot market. Would probably merit a point or two more if it had more of a sense of place, but instead this is fairly standard and not interesting for my palate. Probably won't purchase again. Served at cellar temperature and allowed to warm up to room temperature. 14.2% ABV.

Semi-translucent ruby. Bright orange peel and citrus on the nose with cherry, caramel and some blackberry soy sauce component in the background. Very attractive in the mouth and quite balanced showing richness and depth with a moderately long finish. These 09's are very impressive. They have the depth and lushness of the 07's but are much brighter on the nose and palate. Admittedly I liked the nose of this bottling a bit more on the 07 but I'm sure the 09 has a bright future, not to say it isn't competely enjoyable right now.

Drinking very well right now. Cherry and raspberry flavors with a touch of mushroom. Full-bodied and well integrated.

Nice first taste of the '09 vintage. Based on this, the other WH wines should be excellent.
