double blind. everybody else got naked over this wine, and it was very nice, but was it just the putrid company it was keeping? after all, per usual, we were drinking a pile of swill before and after. ok, not really. in fact, the wine had fetching red fruit, and an excellent balance. i just wish this producer were able to provide a more constant level of excellence. at peak, drink up.

Blind Night (Kevin): Dark red color. Strawberry nose. Flavors of cherry, earth and strawberry with a hint of cola. Exceptional balanced. Medium bodied. Nice complexity and elegance on the finish. Probably one of the best domestic Pinot Noir's I have tasted in recent memory. Very well done. 14.3% alcohol. Brought by Rick. My guess was red Burgundy which is a huge complement for me. My personal and the groups WOTN.

Walter Hansel Wine Dinner with Stephen Hansel (Mirabelle Restaurant, Austin, Texas): Clear garnet color; This wine had a bit of funk on these nose along with integrated oak. There was little fruit, perhaps this one was a bit over? There was a small amount of spice then it went on to a short finish. The winemaker indicated that wine from this area is now called "Three Rows" for more current releases. 14.3% alcohol [~$35; Drink now]
