The 1998 had a bright mid depth gold colour, a developed nose with an intriguing hint of piquancy. Full bodied with developed citrus flavours matched with some delicious bitter notes described by some as burnt caramel but as a positive contribution to the complexity of the palate. The persistent and acid fresh finish showed no sign of drying out. Wine of the day 19.5

Lunch Cucinetta 20 April 2018: Served alongside the 1998 RP&F BBM. Light golden colour and classic RP&F CC nose of limes and sea shells. Lighter on its feet than the BBM. Fresher and with time in hand, but further complexity unlikely.

Golden color, nice aromatics, good appley and mineral notes, medium body--not especially rich or elegant, but a nice long spicy kick in the finish. At its peak witha possible 3-5 years to go. Don't think this will improve. Enjoyed with deep fried won tons.
