Not bad. Nice smooth texture and sexy nose, but a bit obvious and four square on palate. And sharper tannins and acidity developed pretty quickly. A decent wine but compared to Produttori of same year not as elegant or complex.
From magnum. Tar, tobacco and black cherry. Smokey. Supple, smooth and round palate. This shows all of the positive attributes of 1990 so well - depth, richness, intensity and velvet texture but still balanced and elegant. This is a real pleasure to drink.
Marcarini Barolo Brunate Dinner at Ciano: Super rich fruit, some tar, lots of structure, but jutting out a bit. This is open and pleasing wine, and I imagine that if it was the only Marcarini Barolo I drank on this night, I would have liked it more than I did in this context. Here, I found it to be nice, but also a bit obvious and clunky, not a lot of complication, and definitely missing something in the midpalate.
Deep medium red, with no browning. Decanted for 30 minutes, though would benefit from a bit more time. Tar, stewed fruit, roasted coffee. No floral elements. Decent acidity and well-incorporated tannins. Well made but fairly straightforward.
