Consistent with the underwhelming '91 vintage at Ampeau, this showed both dryness and slightly stewed fruit, though not as bad as other notes have described. There was a tangy boysenberry note on the nose that was quite nice, and the class and acid clarity on the palate lifted it above run-of-mill, but ultimately it could not rise above merely okay, even with a lovely Normandy style veal chop alongside.

Not a fan. Started somewhat reduced and tough to assess. After that dissipated, the wine came across as mature and ripe with a slightly stewy character and moderate length.

Stewed aromas. Thin and acidic with little midpalate density. This was much better six years ago.
