Austria Uncorked (SLS Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA): Seemingly nicely integrated already. Very even and nicely put together. The Gruners from Glatzer were some of the most impressive on the day.

(Weingut Glatzer Grüner Veltliner Dornenvogel) Very light yellow color; floral, tart peach nose; tasty, tart peach, mineral, tart green fruit palate with heightened definition; medium-plus finish 90+ points
(Glatzer Grüner Veltliner "Dornenvogel") ($18.00) Walter’s top reserve wines are named after a bird (thorn-bird) that eats the ripest grapes. As is always the case, this IS A REMARKABLE VALUE, equating to a basic-level Kamptaler while costing about 30% less. It’s as ripe, round and olive-y as always, and unusually salty this year.

Nice fruit and bracing acid. Would buy this again in a second.
