  • Thanksgiving Wines (Our home): Fun bottle size. This is drinking well. Nice black raspberry fruit, spice, licorice and slight black pepper. Lush, ripe fruit on the palate. Very easy to drink. Not a ton of complexity, but juicy, easy drinking fruit. Very tasty.

  • Very nice showing. This drinks well. Not a fruit bomb but not lacking either. Nice texture. Some complexity. Food friendly. Great packaging.

  • My first time trying this wine. It might be priced a bit high but its a very nice wine. Purple in color. The nose has cassis, black raspberries, black pepper, dark cherries and some leather. On the palate, this is very smooth and easy to drink. Not super complex, but not monolithic either. Drinks very easily and is a crowd pleaser. Nice packaging too.

  • This one just gets better with each bottle. Interesting nose of red apple peel! Luscious fabulous over the top wine from Heidi!

I just went back and looked at my past notes/scores and this is definitely going up in point value. Also the same seems to be happening with the community notes. I have one more bottle of 2008 - I'll wait awhile to open and revisit this last one!

  • pkbackman is spot on about the negative PR, but needs to commenton the WINE. the high 70's and low 80's ratings are pure garbage. I'm sure none of those were decanted (not sure because they DIDN'T SAY). They did come up with colorful things to say, and for that I give them a raise of the left upper lip but need to be taken worth a grain of salt. Now, this wine is not a 90+ wine, but I'm rating it just shy. Intact cork was pulled with a little sediment on the cork, dark crystalline stain. Wine poured an inky dark red with a subtle purple hue. Decanted 30-40 minutes. Wine was poured into glass. This wine was caramel, ink, and some herbal "wild spice" kind of note. On the entry was a full bodied wine. Ink up front, some chocolate, cocoa, hint of vanilla, mint. The wine on the mid-palate continued to stay dense, balanced. Turned very dark on the finish with a fig and herbal note, some mint chocolate and oregano started to percolate in. Wine finished deeply tannic, with very firm, kind of harsh tannins, with some green pepper? Hard to distinguish that. Went well with a tomato basil soup and wheat baguette bread with Cimarossa (Howell Mountain) olive oil. For those who don't like the inky characteristics, I can see how this would rate in the mid-80's. The only way this wine would be in the low 80's is if it was allowed to sit in the hot sun for 2 days before it was opened. Drink now, because honestly I don't see this wine holding up for long.
