Translucent and relatively pale raspberry color. Somewhat restrained and beautifully fine-tuned nose with aromas of sharp sour cherry tones, earthy sous-bois, some floral notes of withered violets, a little bit of red-fruited Pinosity, a hint of peppery spice and a touch of dusty earth. The wine is relatively light-bodied, fresh and wonderfully acid-driven on the palate - almost surprisingly so, for a wine from the hot 2009 vintage! There are bright flavors of tart cranberries, brambly raspberries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of peppery spice, light cedary notes of woody oak, a hint of salt-cured beef and a touch of gravelly minerality. The structure relies not only on the high acidity, but also on the firm and somewhat grippy medium tannins. This is beautifully crunchy and pleasantly rough on the edges; not a soft and fruity crowdpleaser, but a classic, slightly rustic and nicely angular Burgundy. The finish is bright, crunchy and quite lengthy with flavors of fresh, brambly raspberries, sour cherry bitterness, some tart cranberries, a little bit of earthiness, light peppery tones, a hint of smoke and a touch of leather.
A very attractive and remarkably structured effort for a hot-year red Burgundy. At 7 years of age, the wine was still remarkably youthful in style, so most likely it will continue to develop for years more and keep for even longer. The overall feel is remarkably balanced: the fruit and structure feel very harmonious in relation to each other and the wood use is very judicious, only slightly peeking underneath the dry, crunchy fruit tones, never overwhelming any finer nuances. I'd be upset for drinking this wine all too early, if it weren't so damn tasty at this point as well. Terrific value at 29,90€.

again quite a sweetish palate from a Neville-selected Burgundy - glycerol and sweetness at only 12.5% and only a little very gentle tannin and acid to freshen it up, not bad though for $40 I guess. Perhaps it's 2009? Some sweet mossy forest floor, perhaps cherry fruit

Soft, restrained black cherry with a touch of cedar. Not too complex, but it's still an enjoyable wine with a nice mouthfeel and smooth finish.

Surprise given village. This is intense and concentrated with just a hint of rusticity. Very good indeed.
