  • Mature nose of confected cherries with noticeable sous-bois. On the palate balsam and leather. This has hollowed out quite substantially from its peak drinking window 3-5 years ago. The mid-palate is gone and no semblance of structure left. Still very pleasant but definitely on the downslope and losing excitement fast.

  • Lovely nose of dried cherries, wet leaves, strawberries, wet pasture, baking spices, flowers, a bit of barnyard, and a hint of turpentine. Red cherries, dried red cherries, earth, cranberries, citrus pith, spices, and a touch of wet wood on the palate. Tangy and round acidity, great balance, tannins fully integrated, delicious medium finish. What a terrific wine. One of the more memorable ones this year so far. Just perfect with a chicken dinner. I wish I had more.

  • I opened this bottle last evening feeling the need to reward myself for having just endured a long flight back from London. But I was too lazy to write any notes. I was not disappointed a bit.

A day later, finishing the bottle, here are my notes. Pale reds fading to ochre on the edges -- almost looked twice as old in terms of color but no hint of cloud or sediment. Sweet, violet aromas with a hint of light earthiness without the grit or heaviness of soil. Round, balanced and lush. I wish I had 24 more bottles at this price.

  • SFwine blind and not-blind tasting at Tom's (San Francisco, CA): Aromas of rich, soft red fruits, earth, a little creamy oak. Medium bodied on the palate with lovely ripe but delicate red fruits (strawberry, cherry), earth, and a remarkably silky texture and mouthfeel. Really, this is like liquid silk, but the acidity is deceptively good. Ripe and generous, this is not a delicate style yet not slutty either. Excellent balance here, i'm very impressed.
