Well, well well, what a difference a couple of years makes. I drank a bottle of 04 Radici a few years ago and was none impressed, but damn this baby is singing now! Finding older fiano is not particularly easy, but I always keep my eyes open for it. I found this neglected bottle of gold at a mediocre liquor store, inconspicuously placed among a gaggle of crap pinot grigio. Anyway, this stuff is rocking (tastes quite young actually)! On the nose there are hints of acacia, Nutella, honey, smoked bacon, and perhaps one lime. On the palette, there is a lot going on. I pick up intense smokiness, prickly minerality, honey, hazelnut, rosemary, and pecan. This has significant weight and is somewhere between medium to full bodied. Among the nuts, there is a beautiful blend of herbs and a subtle citrus note. The long, dry chalky finish works really well with savory food.

I drank my 2nd bottle after work on 9/4/10. It had pear, grapefruit, smoke, spice and mineral aromas. The palate was smooth balanced, tangy and tasty with flavors that followed the nose…truly amazing at this age.

Subdued nose of minerals and earth. Nice palate of mineral and spice about an hour after opening. Balanced and well made. Not bitter. A nice wine for the price.
