Decanted off medium amount of fine sediment. Brick/rust red color with some thinning at the rim. Aromas of mushroom, cherry, rhubarb, and tea. Palate has black tea, rust, some roasted meat/game character and a bitter, long finish where some heat starts to show. All notes one might imagine are spice rapidly flow to rust or tea. This is a perfectly acceptable aged pinot noir wine with good structure but zero sense of place that I can identify. The structure suggests this will have a very long life at this stage but I don't think further complexity will emerge. Drink or hold.

Clayfu's birthday (Los Angeles, CA): Showing about what you'd expect from this bottle. Foursquare and passable. Not the most complex, but this shows a fair bit of secondary character. A bit of rust, some nice notes of mushroom. Nothing interesting but decent.

Drink this now if you have any left. Color is warm and clearing, a hint more brown than I would have expected in a 10 year-old bottle of Burgundy. Popped and poured at 58 degrees, and gradually warming up to 65. Hints of raspberry and mocha on the nose, muted fruit on the palate, nice acidic balance, pleasantly dry, but very short finish. Very drinkable, very good, but actually a bit of a disappointment at this point.
