  • A 'Lost Cellar' wine. Found deep in my cellar where it had slumbered since purchase in 1995, this wine was a clear cherry red with a rusty edge. The nose was beautiful from first opening with strawberry, redcurrant, raspberry and rose then evolving with some black fruit and spice characters. Over time the red fruits predominated and there was a strong limestone minerality. The palate was medium weight with a lovely round dollop of fruit balanced by a mineral and citrus edge on the finish. There was a good balanced impression and very good length and overall this was a very good bottle of aged 1er Cru Burgundy.

  • Very similar experience to Tex, but without the cloudy silt. My bottle was ruby clear and absolutely gorgeous, youthful and full of energy. Red fruit Pinot nose with a layer of earthiness that provided depth. Palate was rich, soft and energetic with wonderful balance of fruit and bite. Great bottle.

  • Slightly volatile, which marred an otherwise nice wine, with good concentration of dark fruit and silky extract.

  • Bottle was in good shape. The cork was intact and I was able to remove it in one piece with an Ah-So (was too soft for corkscrew). The wine was deep-crimson colored, with no orange or amber hues. Despite my best efforts, there was quite a lot a extremely fine sediment that caused the wine to appear muddy or cloudy. Fully integrated flavors and aromas. Wonderful nose with dark red fruit, leather, and some anise. Lively on the palate with red fruit and spice. Wonderfully balanced and well-structured with no hard edges. This was vibrant and intense with plenty of fruit. The only thing I didn't like about this bottle was the turbid appearance of the wine in the glass. Would have scored higher if the wine were clear. (93-94pts)

  • CellarTracker Wisconsin June 2011; 6/24/2011-6/25/2011 (Madison, WI- various venues): Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Big nose of leather and red cherries. On the palate it has sour cherries, more leather, cigar box and a bit of cellar dust. Medium-long finish consistent with the taste with leather at the very end. Would have loved to spend an evening with this wine instead of a quick taste but is seems to be a solid 92 maybe 93. Drink now and over the next 1-3 years.
