  • Thanksgiving; this was a perfect pairing for turkey, cranberry, sweet potato, etc. Large and obvious flavors in a new world style (>14%), in that sense more California than the typically burgundian Oregon. Prominent oak. Quite a lovely nose. Enough acidity to make all of the above work at the table. Not subtle, and after some time in the glass it felt oddly medicinal, but fun enough to drink and crowd pleasing. It's just that it lacks any sense of terroir, has no minerality and seems just a well polished bit of oaky cherry juice. I would say this is overpriced at $40, but new barrels and a shiny facility don't come for free.

  • This was the hit of the night at thanksgiving dinner. Blew away the beaux Freres upper terrace. Earthy bouquet, lush mouthfeel. Lots of berries on the palate and a very smooth finish. Glad I have more left to drink.

  • Oh my, this is delicious. Bright, up front fruit - cherries and raspberries with a nice smokey finish. Elegant style and drinking beautifully.
