  • Quite deep, developed golden yellow color. Developed and quite distinctive - even somewhat green-toned - nose with aromas of sappy willow bark, honeyed richness, some golden apples, a little bit of salty ocean air and a hint of lemon marmalade. It feels like the nose is somewhat reductive while also showing some aged, subtly oxidative tones at the same time. The wine is full-bodied, quite unctuous and off-dry on the palate with wonderfully resolved, mature flavors of ripe red apples, roasted exotic spices, some bruised apple tones, a little bit of oxidative nuttiness, light mineral notes of wet stones and a hint of crunchy star fruit. The wine feels very round and slightly ponderous because of its medium acidity, which doesn't feel high enough to lend the wine necessary freshness and intensity. The finish is moderately long, developed and quite complex with the acidity gaining more ground as the richer fruit flavors fade away, tapering into drier, more mineral direction towards the end of the aftertaste. There are nuanced flavors of lemon marmalade, some saline tang, a little bit of bruised apple, light honeyed notes and a hint of exotic spice.

A fine, nuanced and very rich Grand Cru Riesling with some noticeable yet not overwhelming sweetness and nice tertiary complexity. Overall the wine feels slightly too low in acidity to carry off the richness with enough grace, but otherwise the wine is very pleasant and stylish. With higher acidity this could've been something remarkable, but now the wine falls a little bit short.
