  • Lovely black fruit and earth nose.
Same on the palate. The acidity dominates a bit though.

  • So much for off vintages. This wine surprised me with its dark color and a whiff of oak on the nose. That quickly dissipated to allow the maturing fruit and subtle earth to pop up. Hints of some purple flowers and just a whiff of wood (not oak, but forest) and minerals. Definitely in a drinking state and nicely concentrated. This might get even better for those who want even more mature wines. I liked it where it was sitting and would happily drink more whenever offered. My guess is that this is in a drinking plateau where it will stay for a while.

  • Decanted for 15 minutes and consumed over the next 2 hours. Nose of tart cherries, dried fruit. Light texture in the mouth with an wonderful mix of fruit (tart cherries, raisin), dusty earthiness and judicious acid to balance. The acid took over in the mid palate and the finish is long and reserved with each component interacting in an austere way. I was pleased with my timing and thought the wine had improved since my last taste 3 years ago. However, in the remaining glasses, the acid component dominated in a harsh way, and the fruit, although present in the nose, receded to the background. Even with food (salmon, thyme, green vegetables), the harshness was too much for me. I'm encouraged by the first taste and will keep my last bottle another 3 or 5 years.

  • Red fruited, earthy and elegant. Has some dried flower notes and a palate with a sweet heart. Quite delicious.

  • Translucent garnet color. This has an elegant, floral nose with tart red cherry aromas. The palate is well balanced between fruit, minerality and acidity currently, though it still remains a bit on the austere side. Currently in a place between adolescence and maturity, I would be willing to gamble another five years to let this loosen up some more.
