  • Deep reddish coppery color that turns to deep golden yellow towards the rim. A haunting, sweet and perfumed nose with lovely, complex aromas of maple syrup, dried figs, some dusty wood, a little bit of date compote, light boozy aguardente tones, a hint of nutty oxidation and a touch of Russian candy. The wine is surprisingly light-bodied and remarkably acid-driven on the palate with intense flavors of jammy red fruits, maple syrupy, chopped nuts, some lemon marmalade tones, light spicy notes of pungent Indian spices and sweeter baking spices, dried fruit hints of dates, prunes and damsons and a tertiary oxidative touch of bruised apple. There's lots of everything and still the wine doesn't feel flamboyant nor overdone one little bit - although I must admit that the alcohol heat does get rather noticeable every now and then. The very lengthy finish is sweet, sticky and quite light yet very fresh, intense and lively with some alcohol warmth and complex, developed flavors of oxidative nuttiness, syrupy richness, some toffee tones and caramel, a little bit of rancio, gently bitter spicy tones, a hint of creaminess and a touch of baked apple.

An outstanding Colheita Port by all accounts. The first sip felt slightly underwhelming as the wine was lighter than the nose led me to expect, but the freshness and intensity came on a backbeat as the acidity kicked in. Stunning freshness, focus and beautiful tertiary complexity here. I'm not so sure how much further an oxidative wine like this can evolve from here, but most likely the wine will keep beautifully for many more years, even multiple decades. Very highly recommended.

  • Brick red color with very nice raisin and fig notes. Lovely viscous palate with persistent fruit and a great finish that lasts for 30 seconds.

  • Figs, raisins and orange peel on the nose with some toffee hints and alcohol pushing through.
Sweet and medium bodied palate with figs, raisins and dried apricots. Herbs, spices and woody notes. Some heat in the long aftertaste.
Quite woody and alcohol rather evident (in fact there was something brandyesque about this wine) - but that didn't really bother me. Nice stuff.

  • This one was bottled in 2008. 26 yrs in oak cask, and there is plenty of oak seasoning embuing this, and quite effectively to my taste.
A pretty tawny-orange color. Toasted caramel orange bouquet. Palate is consistent and also carries almost a Caribbean vanilla rhum profile as well. Warm, easy on the sweetness with no stickiness. Orange raisin caramel finish ends showing a just bit too much heat. I'm enjoying this like a 92 point wine, but objectively it's a 90. Nothing wrong with that though.
