  • Deep gold colour. Medium and developed nose with caramel, butter, charred wood, mushrooms, saline and wet stone. Medium (+) taste of caramel, butter, charred wood, mushrooms and wet stone. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good and well matured Chassagne-Montrachet that was a little shy at first. Needed 15 min in the glass to open. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with cheeses, fish or shellfish.

  • A tad too hot for my taste. There are hints of creme brulee and lemon meringue here, but there is an over-riding sense of heat/alcohol that is not covered with the flavors of the wine. It is a little like California chardonnay alcohol with hints of white burgundy flavors. Structurally it is a sound wine, no premox, good length to the flavors, and it is holding together nicely, but it is just not close to the level of the 2001 and 2002 Ramonet wines I have had lately. I guess this is par for the course with 2003 burgundy.

  • Our warmup at Gary Danko.

Really a tasty wine; just the perfect mate for my corn soup and appy of roasted lobster with chanterelles. Straw in color, the wine showed balance of fruit and acidity and a wonderful backbone of flinty minerals on the finish. This was easily the best wine of the night for me and reinforced my need for more white burgs in the cellar.

  • Tasting at Ramonet (2004, 2003 and others) (Ramonet cellars): Toast on the nose, some heat on the palate with low acidity but good freshness. Aromas of crème brulée. Amazing length.
