DR T̶u̶e̶s̶d̶a̶y Thursday Night Zoom Tasting (Vancouver, BC): Drank blind next to the 2008 Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet Les Ruchottes. A bit fuller than the Les Ruchottes yet still lazer focused. Tart lemon, tangerine peel, with plenty of salinity. More depth on the palate with a nice spicy core on the finish and a touch of spearmint. At first this was tight and not giving a ton but as it sat in the glass the nose really opened up and became my clear favorite overall. Great tension and intensity and judging from this bottle just entering it's drinking window. A great flight to start the evening.

Medium yellow-gold color. Aromas of green peach, pear, apple, melon, and some floral/melon. Palate has honeysuckle, mint, apple, and some hints of butterscotch emerging. Comes off as a muscular rendition with good acid balance keeping it in line. Love it. More development possible from here, but starting to be really compelling for my tastes. Drink or hold.

Brief notes of Christmas wines with John: Brief note. Served non-blind. A 'greenish' seeming nose of Granny Smith apples, limes and lemons, minerals and baking spices. In the mouth, driving 2008 acidity, which I liked. Good weight and power. Phenolic with a touch of apricot kernel bitterness. Greengage plums, limes, nectarines, soil and chalky minerals. Oak and sulphur well integrated. No hint of premox. Drinking well now but with years ahead of it.

Light seepage. Mineral and butter palate, just lacked aromatics. Finish was balanced and medium length. Good, but a little disappointing.

Dinner with Andrea and Ian. Bottle had signs of past seepage and was flat.
