  • By the glass (part of the wine pairing) at FLX Table in Geneva, NY. Nose is smoky with almost overpowering notes of struck match, a vague hint of white flowers, vaguely tropical notes like dragonfruit or something and cream on the end. Palate is broad and monolithic, with more vaguely tropical notes and a short, bitter almond and honeysuckle finish. It’s fine I guess, but I wanted more from a 20-year old riesling.

  • A lemon compote nose with some chalky minerality. Enjoyed this, but a cool temperature is a must here -- gets too diffuse and flabby when above cellar temperature.

  • My third bottle in a week and a half. This bottle was opened about 2-3 hours before serving, but not decanted. After initial pouring (after the 2-3 hours), the wine seemed too diffuse. Af the end of dinner, several hours later, the wine had certainly opened up and gained depth and body. Unfortunately, it was too warm and the alcohol (listed at 13.5%) was showing. Ultimately, a cool decant for an hour or two will likely show this wine at best.
