Consistent with 10/28/2012 tasting, but did not need to open up as much- 30 minutes of breathing did it just right. This wine is drinking really well right now. Jammy, juicy, touch of smoke, licorice and spice. Well-balanced, better than a medium finish. In our opinion, one of the best Zins on the market for $20 or under.

THIS is Amador Zin at its best! The color is really inky, maybe just short of a premium Aussie Barrosa Shiraz. The nose is total mixed berry, wood, earth. The taste does burst with ripe and slightly sweet blackberries and does have a slightly creamy texture. I hesitate to say at 15.5% alcohol that this is an elegant wine, but that IS its style. Better than medium finish. WARNING: this needs some help to open up. We let it breathe for an hour and that was not enough. It opened up in the glass at dinner and beyond. Would benefit greatly from decanting (this is NOT a pop and pour, sorry folks). The wine is well balanced and the flavors fully integrated, no rough edges whatsoever, no shortcomings. We paid $30 for it, think those in larger cities with mega wine stores could do better than that. Post script: we ordered direct from the winery and got a case of 2009 and a case of 2010--even with shipping, averaged out to $18 a bottle.

Strawberry aroma smooth berry palate very mild oak influence not bad. For a 2010 Zin this one made it to my case list.

Thanksgiving Wine Tasting featuring Tom Savage and the wines of International Cellars LLC (Westwood CC, Vienna, VA): this started with a pretty nose of oak and floral notes. on the palate, though, it was odd and way overly oaked. dominated by the oak in the way that bad chardonnay often is; haven't seen that in a zin before.

Wow, this is a great bottle of wine at twice the price. Green olive on the nose, but rich fruit on the tongue. This is a really nice zinfindel.
