  • Enjoyable, but eclipsed by the 2014 Baldwin Family Estate we had alongside it. On the first night, it fell a bit flat and really seemed past its prime. On day 2 the wine gained considerable heft and some red fruit started to show through.

  • 90 minute decant. Bright and lively nose to start, notes of garrigue lead the red fruit. Smells a bit like brandied cherries, not at all alcoholic but there's a richness to the fruit and that descriptor seemed close. A nice black pepper spice emerges with more air time which is matched across the palate. Great fruit - rich and jammy strawberry with notes of cinnamon, pepper and bergamot tea. Still offers a fair amount of acid and tartness, it paired nicely with tri tip steak and caramelized sweet potatoes.

This drank pretty consistent with our bottle from almost a year back. I'd drink up.

  • This is drinking well, it shows it's age nicely. Notes of caramel, red berry jam, holiday spice, clove and black pepper. It introduces a green note the longer the wine was open. The fruit this vintage was known for definitely remains - red cherry, currant, sweet orange - but there are now really nice secondary notes of caramel and soy too. It's still lightly acidic, finishing soft with those red berry notes lingering at the finish.

Holds up nicely on night two as well. Dive in, no reason to wait any longer.

  • Solid wine reflecting OR Pinot characteristics from a magnum.

  • I decanted 15 mminutes, which worked well. Drank with an '13 Torii Mor Nysa PN that was decanted too long at 4 hours. I slightly preferred this as there was a bit more fruit, earth, and depth. This is drinking very nicely and seems to have plenty of life left, I'd guess 3-5 years, if not more. Next time, I'll have to have similar decants to be fair.
