  • A beautiful Leroy in a great place. Aromatically, impressively floral (Leroy perfume) with sweet cherries and baking spices, just to die for. The palate is rich and showy with intense dark red fruits and good lift plus a rocky mineral appeal. Sleek and firm structurally, yet offers up unusal precision for a Corton. Long life ahead, but in a very nice place now.

  • 0797/1169. Cherry, raspberry, plum, licorice, game, vanilla, chocolate, lingering spices. Quite open, typical Leroy parfume with a clean and light palate. 94

  • I found this to be slightly better than the last bottle I had. This started out much the same way, but after about 2 hours the flavors came together and it became more precise and focused. I really enjoy this vineyard in the Leroy portfolio.

  • Burgundy with Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Open an hour before tasting, then consumed over 2+ hours. Lots of spice and perfume to start with mature black cherry and berry aromas. Similar flavors to start, this wine kept changing with more time in glass. After one hour in glass, the fruit was less forward, making the wine less interesting overall. But the fruit returned an hour later, and everything was back in harmony.

Slightly more advanced than I normally find with Leroy 1998s. Was told this was consistent with another bottle from the same case, making me think there might have been some minor heat damage at some point, but this was still a charming drink.

  • Typical Leroy spice, dried roses, red and black fruit, hint of tar and iron on the nose. The palate seemed a bit muddled and while there was not a lot of precision there was a lot going on. Excellent grip. Powerful medium++ finish.
