Dark garnet. Brooding, almost burly, nose of dark fruits, smoke, earth, with ripe pinot fruit. Powerful - reminiscent of a classic barolo from serralunga. In the mouth, the long finish is still firmly tannic, with lots of acidity. Very good wine - but one i'd be inclined to hold. I think the stuffing is there for this to be a better wine in 10 years than it is today.

Dark ruby with a magnificent nose of dark berry, earth and oak. BIG structure and BIG flavors of dark berry and bramble with a strong acidic finish. Long dark berry acidic finish. Unbelievably, this wine needs more time. Has tremendous potential to improve. I would wait 5+ more years. Amazingly robust wine. I hope I live longer than it does.

This has the basic Leroy hallmarks, rich and pure, here with a bit of earthiness. But it is indeed a baby. The wonderful red fruit/strawberry notes on the palate quickly give way to pervasive acid that dominates the finish. Yes, eighteen years on, but not remotely the first 1990 Burgundy that for me fits this profile. Needs ten years easy, and maybe more. Lots of potential for this score to go up substantially.

My prior note stands, but this is still years away. Today beautifully aromatic but on the palate twixt and tween. I'll try another bottle around 2018.
