Chilled to about 50 degrees and opened to consume with friends for a cheese, charcuterie, and smoked salmon and oysters get together. A mostly tangerine orange hue on the robe, with an unusual nose of apricot nectar, bitter orange, and mineral. Considerable dry extract, with the suggestion of tannin, suggesting this spent some time on its skins. Medium bodied, dry and with good acidity, this was very appealing. 88-90

Also brought this to our wine group dinner at Le Provencal to match up against Barry's rose. The Les Clans was extremely light in color; it didn't even look like rose. But in taste this was a superb wine IMO. I don't feel it's worth the $60 price tag, but it is a very nice rose. Someone commented that the Caves d'Esclans entry wine, Whispering Angel, was just as good but at about a quarter of the cost. I would agree.

A more robust rose, with a bit less tart fruit and more roundness to it. A perfect pheasant eye color. More strawberry and some chalkyness to it....would have been totally suitable for chicken or even a pork dish. Very unique.
