Really good. This may be the best bottle from BERNSTEIN I have ever had. I usually find his wines to be too woody for me and somewhat confected. This was nicely balanced.

Took a couple hours to open up and is more brooding than most '10s. Lots of extraction (that turns into concentration) and a woodsy note that with time melds reasonably well with the meaty black cherry.

(Mostly) Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Opened and double decanted three hours before serving. All black fruit with good weight, but much better layers of flavors. Fairly mature for the vintage, but lots here that keep it very interesting.

Dinner with the wine group (Millbrae, CA): Medium-ruby, darker than the volnay tonight; deep aromatics with red and black fruits; palate is medium bodied, smooth and richly textured, high acidity, balanced medium alcohol; finish is medium length. Definitely richer styled burgundy but balanced with refreshing acidity. 90

The wine is robust, concentrated and polished with a hint of the terroir coming through. Full nose of meaty black cherry with toast and spice. Round, plush and almost sleek fruit provides plenty of hedonistic pleasure. Approachable and ready to go.
