Not a good wine. Years ago it was super tannic, which made me think it needed to age. Now age has exposed its weakness. Alcoholic and flat. A lesson to be learned: Very tannic wines do not necessarily benefit from losing their tannins with time.

A 100 % Metlot: Tar, blackberries, graphite, earthy, black currant, bit “dusty” which I also have with most Bordeaux’s, maybe I am just not compatible with too high percentages of Merlot ...

I waited over two years to try this wine again. Opened for a few hours and then took to dinner. We let it sit for another hour while we drank some chardonnay and then poured through a vintorio and it was a total disappointment. The nose of dark fruit and chocolate was the nicest part. The palate was fruit, leather, tree bark, mocha but it never came together, totally disjointed. The finish was like hitting your car brakes when you realize there is a red light in front of you. It stopped short. Just ended. The three of us could not even get halfway through the bottle and to make matters worse my vintorio broke while taking it out of the bottle. Can't see how Vinous gave it a 92. To
Vin Chicago / Kermit Lynch Tasting (Vin Chicago - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Very big and fat, but also slightly awkward structure. Fruit is maturing faster than structure resolving, so tough to enjoy o project. Not a personal fav today.

Needs a few more years to hit peak. Heavy tannins, lots of oak and earth. Bit of dark chocolate. If drink now, decant for a few hours.
