Dark red fruit and a bit of black pepper, lovely color and great mouth-feel, full and still lush. This bugger was supposedly well past due, but after a struggle with the cork, we found it absolutely fine and delightful, 12 years past the suggested finale. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.

Medium-dark rosewood color. Excellent nose, with earthy aromas of clay, ripe stone fruits, dark cherries, and dusty red soil. The palate is in a nice mature spot, with "dusty red fruit" perfectly summing up the balance between primary and tertiary flavors. This has residual acidity on the finish, with the lingering aftertaste of cocoa beans. Overall, elegant and complex in the way that you'd expect from mature Brunello. This was a bit better than the 1989. In a great spot now, this should be enjoyed without hesitation.

Although the wine still had an explosive nose of jammy fruit and Mushrooms the juice was shot and well past its prime. It was acidic and tart with unresolved tannins and little fruit to counterbalance the acid. Drink, drain, or make vinegar.

Blockbuster. 20 years and still going strong. Slight touch of brick but would have lasted longer. Regret last one. Smooth as silk.
