  • Not nearly as good as the last bottle I had in 2011. Not sure if it was a flaw in the bottle/bottle variation or if it was just a representation of where this wine has gone in the last couple of years, but I would guess it is the former. Everything about this was just a bit hollowed out and unfocused, though it did retain its acidity. Not rated tonight, and I look forward to the other 375 I have left to see if this truly was just an off bottle.

  • Enjoyable with desserts. Seems mature.. lots of sediment. Medium bodied, grassy, honey, sweet. A bit short finish. Nevertheless quite nice.

  • Apricot, honey and dried fruits. Not very sweet on nose. On palate it's medium sweet, unctuous, syrupy and candy. Seems more suitable for desserts.

  • This shows a nice, honey-laden and precise expression of Sauternes from this vintage that is solid. Well-botrytized as well. Exotic coconut, honey, and peach pervade the nose and palate, and though the midpalate is a bit thinner than one would like, the finish is long and solid (albeit not as precise or pure as one might like it). Not as much acidity as I would hope for. Will continue to improve in bottle for at least 5 years, and perhaps many, many more. The '96 Guiraud shows a more ample midpalate but on the whole - at least for now - I believe this wine outclasses it.

  • Honey and alcohol on the nose. Slightly sweet, but balanced with good acidity. Not very deep or complex. Mute lemon and saline on the palate.
