  • With veal chops and sauteed mushrooms. Surprisingly good for what it is and the ratings I've seen. Lighter crimson color but no danger signs. Red cherry driven with just a hint of sweetness remaining. Structure is there but largely resolved. Certainly nothing profound, but a very pleasant and enjoyable red burg.

  • The antithesis of what one would expect. Color is pale, almost in the realm of a diluted Red Zinger tea. Cinnamon stick, spiced raspberry and dried flowers are the bulk of the aromatics. Not especially weighty but not light either. No hint of alcohol other than what one would normally expect from wine. Does not have the beef and heft one would expect from CdV, especially given the mass and animal of their 1996. Still, very solid Pinot noir-ness to it and a load of earth-toned spice on the finish. Not my favorite effort from JJ but a nice, ready to drink Burg although, again, one would probably think Vosne as opposed to Vougeot.

  • Used to break in my Sommelier Burgundy Grand Cru glasses, and what better a night than Valentines. Opened up pretty quidkly with some cranberry and red cherry, nice soft finish, good balance a bit on the delicate side. I beleive this wine is in its drinking window.
