This has aged beautifully… it has darkened, become a little honeyed, and all of that firmness on the palate has turned into a beautiful, seamless texture. at its peak where it will hold 2-4 years. Remains very Austrian with it's high extract/high alcohol.

Some depth of color, yellow to gold rim. High aromatic intensity with plenty of buttered toast, minerals, citrus aromas. On the palate the wine is dry, has high acidity, a slightly phenolic yet firm and full midpalate, a very nice transition into a persisitent finish... moderate + ETOH for riesling. Wine comes off a little bit on the firm side as is often the case with Pichler's wines I find, good length, intensity, and complexity. Certainly a wine with very good finesse and a very firm texture... clear expression of place. The wine evolved with air gaining new sublte flavors and textures. A clearly excellent wine that is a great model for firm, slightly phenolic, moderate + ETOH rieslings. Nearing its peak where it will hold for 5-10 years.

A crackling sizzle of acidity adds a dynamic beat to this otherwise mildly constituted wine -- though pure and fresh, with lemony, melony, and even celery flavors, the fruit almost feels a little dilute in the middle, but the structure adds more than enough pizazz. Oddly for a wine of this crispness, it's best as it nears room temperature, with no diminution in the crackle.
