  • Tasted blind alongside 2004 Antinori Pian della Vigne; 2008 MGM Mondo del Vino Amarone della Valpolicella Sopra Sasso; 2004 Sassicaia; and 2010 Antinori Chianti Classico. Dark ruby turning crimson at the rim with a nose of red and dark berries, vanilla, meat and leather. Medium-to-full-bodied and slightly tannic at this point featuring dark cherry, chocolate, and leather. Good balance and decent finish. For a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, I am very impressed at how this wine was able to hold its ground against some big guns. Drink now with 30 minutes decant until 2024. 91+
