  • My final (pristine) bottle. Seamless and silky, sweet yet subtle, light but long, floral and fragrant, elegant but not evanescent, transparent and true, complex and come-hither, strawberry, spice and sous-bois, pithy and poised, warmth from the slate and the neutral wood, fresh and with just the right level of phenolic grip for the light structure, not too drying on the finish, peach and strawberry, very good length. If this were a poem it might be considered light verse, but it is absolutely delightful and completely ready to drink. Yum.

  • I like this bottle a lot better than the one tasted in February 2016. It is clearly a fresh and cool rendition of the Cuvée "S", but it is very aromatic on the nose and really typical for Meyer-Näkel; even if the palate is on the light side, it has nice sweet and juicy fruit and a lovely balance, it is not too drying and it possesses poise and nice grip; length is good. Completely ready.

  • Floral and fragrant, with some lovely sweet red berry fruit and a hint of spicy slate, but completely lacks concentration - it is not scrawny however. Soft but fresh, gentle tannins, with a very light and slightly drying finale. Recognisable Meyer-Näkel style, has a certain charm, but apparently this ephemeral rendition of the "S" theme was all that the 2010 vintage allowed (except for the two barrels of GG which they managed to eke out). Drink up.

  • Monthly Tasting Group HWS #080; Germany: Ahr (by MM): Intriguing bouquet with beautifully toasted oak and ripe red fruits. On the palate a sweet start, red fruits, soft acidity and tannin. Juicy, focused and no sharp edges. Good length.
