In the glass it shines a clay red with rust tinged edges, a classic Nebbiolo trait. On the nose, notes of damp wood smoke, violets, cherry skin and raspberries all meld together. The palate is almost gossamer. It has energy and life. With perfect acidity and lush tannins, this wine is the perfect introduction to Barolo without the attached price and necessity of aging.

Pretty good nose when I first opened it, very typical of a Langhe nebbiolo, but it faded quickly. Lacks any type of real fruit character, and minimal finish. Quite dry. Nothing memorable.

Nice noseof red fruit, fairly clear tones. Palate of lingonberry, good acidity and well integrated tannins.

Wine-Ark Cellar Club Tasting 7 - August 2011, Keith Tulloch, Massolino, Kilikanoon (Roof Terrace Australian Museum): Colour: Rim fade, garnet
Nose: Leather, tar, almost black treacle, perfume, slight sweet spice and vanilla
Mouth: Medium plus acid and tannin, spice, medium plus alcohol. A big wine. Long, dry but not unpleasant finish with no real fruit, unfortunately.
