My last bottle of this Merlot. Extremely tight upon opening but a good nose that I got mocha notes on. The wine that followed had some dark boysenberry, chocolate, tobacco, anda hint of forest floor. Sadly my last of the Keenan Merlot in my cellar. Will likely seek out some recent vintages to compare.

Stunning! Pop and pour after 1999 Kirwan, 2000 Clerc Milon, 2004 Poggio Antico and a couple others, but this wine stole the show. My palate was a bit shot by then but I remember thinking that I am not sure if Merlot can have any more structure and power than this. Drank like a Howell Mountain cab reserve. Has plenty of life left and would like to see this in another 5-7 years, but it is so good now, tough to wait unless you have multiple.

Delicious merlot that seems to be in a perfect place right now. A bit darker and more “serious” than Pride, my usual go-to merlot. But I loved it.

Softening with maturity. Maybe the best bottle yet. Likely at peak
