  • Appearance: Light ruby red towards brick colour, becoming lighter and more onion orange coloured and watery toward the rim.

Nose: Mature Pinot Noir notes of autumn forest, mushroom, ripe red berries, strawberry jam and a hint of stables.

Taste & palate: Relatively light, still quite fruity, a certain "fruit sweetness", some mineral notes towards the end of the taste curve, medium long aftertaste. Quite well balanced and even elegant, with a defined and firm backbone. Grows in body with some air (initially appeared lighter bodied, now more medium bodied).
Next day the remaining half full bottle showed no sign of decline (after having stayed overnight in the fridge).

Conclusion: A mature, medium bodied Alsace Pinot Noir which (for its 17 years) has held up surprisingly well. Although I can imagine that it might still perform at its 20th anniversary in 2017, I would rather drink it up now, while it's mature but still has lively fruit and freshness. Well made wine!

  • This has finally become a pleasant drink. Simple pinot flavors but very pure and balanced.
