Luxury! Oh yes. From the get-go, classic cab nose of dusty red fruits with hints of black fruit, menthol and baking spices. This is really singing now, smooth, baby, smooth! Mouth coating, warming, long finish. Paired with a pasta dish (simple) topped with ample Feta cheese, which was a home run. A great accompaniment to a Mariner win (3rd straight). Whoot!

Consumed over four days, purple to black in color. Lovely aromatics of blackberry, boysenberry, blackcurrant, minerality, and tobacco; the brooding bouquet masks the 15.2 percent alcohol quite nicely. A huge wine, featuring massive tannic grip. Blackberry and blackcurrant are featured, along with gravelly minerality, graphite and ink. Wonderfully structured, awesome grip kicks in at the mid palate, clamps down, and does not let go. The wondrous enormity of the palate masks the alcohol fairly well. This being said, this wine is not as balanced or subdued as the 2010 Neufeld Artz - Dubrul blend...and it may never be. This is a thrill ride, a real kick in the pants, lots of fun...but not the most balanced or sophisticated. 93-94.

Nose is huge, pure fruit of cassis and dark cherry, some cocoa vanilla. Palate is restrained but smooth and balanced. Finish in silky dusty RM tannins that go on and on. This wine is still a baby but starting to show true potential. I'll try to wait another year before popping another.

Good value. Some complexity. Try again in 2015.
